      To ensure the safety of your child and our teachers, only online sessions are currently available. We will be reviewing our policies on a regular basis to ensure the best experience for our students and teachers.

    • What are the operating hours of Bahay Turo?

      Bahay Turo teachers are available 7 days a week from 8am to 8pm PHT. If you require a teacher outside these hours, or if you have a specific need, please contact us and we will try our best to find a teacher that fits your requirements.

    • Is there an option for a group tutoring session?

      Bahay Turo currently only offers one-to-one tutoring sessions to best accommodate your child’s individual learning needs.

    • What is the process for getting matched with a teacher?

      Bahay Turo helps you find the best teacher for your child’s needs. A verified teacher is assigned to your child based on your child’s grade level, the requested subject, and the requested time slot.

  • About the Teachers

    • I’ve booked a session. How do I communicate with the teacher?

      After booking, you can send a message to the teacher through the Session Notes. We highly encourage parents to provide instructions, upload a copy of the worksheet to be discussed, or give a general description of their child’s learning style to the teacher before a tutoring session.

      Session Notes can be found under the Manage Session button of the Session card.

      If you want to use the same tutor for a future requirement, please consider booking a Learning Bundle. At the end of the 5-session Learning Bundle, your teacher will provide feedback on how your child is progressing.

    • I have an issue with the teacher’s behavior. What can I do?

      Bahay Turo teachers are thoroughly vetted. We also have a strict Code of Conduct for Teachers to ensure an enjoyable and effective learning experience for the student. If you feel that the Code of Conduct has been violated, please contact us. We will launch a full investigation and act accordingly. If you wish, we can also inform you of the result of our investigation.

    • How do I book a session?

      It’s super easy! Click on the videos below to see how to book a session.

    • Can I refund my child’s tutoring session?

      We want to ensure that you are satisfied with your sessions at Bahay Turo. If you are not satisfied with the experience, please contact us so we can understand how we can do better.

    • Should my child be accompanied by a parent or a guardian during the session?

      Younger kids are encouraged to have a guardian or a parent to help with log in and technology.

    • Something came up. I need to reschedule my child’s tutoring session. What can I do?

      We understand that scheduling conflicts may arise. You can reschedule your session up to 3 hours before the scheduled start time without penalty. However, you will be unable to reschedule within 3 hours, in recognition of the time that the teacher has invested preparing for the session with your child, we will deduct the credits for a full session from your account.

    • My child is in the middle of a tutoring session and the internet is wonky. Paano na?

      If you are unable to get the full benefit of a session due to technical issues, please contact us and we will investigate if you are entitled to a credit voucher.

    • The internet is down! My child’s tutoring session is starting soon. What can I do?

      If you have mobile data, please contact us. Otherwise, please send a text message to the mobile number found in your confirmation email.

    • What can I expect from my child’s tutoring sessions?

      Tutoring sessions are fun, engaging, and focus on the needs of the child. Each 50-minute session is conducted using our online video platform, so there is no need to download or install any other video conferencing software. We do require that you use the latest Chrome browser to ensure you get the best Bahay Turo learning experience.

    • Does Bahay Turo offer face to face tutoring?

      Given the covid situation in the Philippines, the platform will focus on online tutoring.  This is to protect the teachers, the students, and their families.  When it is deemed safe, we may open it up to face-to-face sessions, but only if both teacher and parent feel comfortable doing so.

    • I do not agree with the student’s (or parent’s) behavior . What can I do?

      We have a Code of Conduct for Parents and Students to ensure an enjoyable and effective learning experience for both the teacher and the student. If you feel that the Code of Conduct has been breached, please contact us here.

    • Can I learn a little bit more about the people behind Bahay Turo?

      Bahay Turo is composed of a group of dynamic individuals with diverse and extensive backgrounds in education, technology, retail, banking, and finance.  You will get to meet all of the founders eventually through the training sessions and various events we have planned for teachers who become part of the Bahay Turo family.

  • About Bahay Turo

    • Do I need any special equipment or software?

      Each teaching session is conducted using our online video platform, so there is no need to download or install any other video conferencing software. We do require that you use the latest Chrome browser to ensure the best Bahay Turo experience.

    • What sort of training does Bahay Turo provide?

      We have a number of exciting and useful training sessions planned.  Most will cater to skills to improve the online learning experience, especially in the beginning, but we will also invite speakers that can help teachers in their own personal and professional development.  The training is designed for you to develop your skills.  Most will not be mandatory but some may be highly recommended, depending on your personal development priorities.

    • Is there a fee to join?

      There is no fee to join Bahay Turo. In fact, if at any point someone who poses as Bahay Turo asks for payment from you, please report it to us at support@bahayturo.com immediately.

    • I have a full-time job. Can I still sign up?

      Yes you can do this part-time.  If you want to do this full-time, you are welcome to do that, too.  It is all up to you.

    • Why should I sign up for Bahay Turo?

      Bahay Turo provides teachers with a great opportunity to supplement their income. All you need to do is do what you do best – teach :slight_smile: Bahay Turo will find the students for you.  We will also give you the tools to ensure a productive and engaging session with your student. Bahay Turo will provide opportunities for our teachers’ personal and professional development.  Through Bahay Turo , you will have access to a network of fellow teachers where you can make friends, share experiences and learn from one other. 

  • About the Tutoring Sessions

    • What happens if a student is assigned to me and I cannot make the session?

      We recognize that emergencies can come up. Teachers will be given an onboarding workshop where they will learn all they need to know about Bahay Turo, including likely scenarios they will encounter and how to handle them.

    • Is there a maximum number of sessions I can do?

      There is no maximum limit to the sessions you can do. 

    • Is there a minimum time commitment? Can I stop at any time?

      There is no minimum time commitment, although we do encourage teachers to set their availability for at least 3 slots a week to increase the likelihood that the system will be able to match them to a student.

    • What grade and what subjects do you cater to?

      We facilitate tutoring sessions for elementary and high school students.  If you have a special skill set (e.g., teaching an instrument or a foreign language) let us know!

    • I’m interested! What are the minimum requirements to apply as a Bahay Turo teacher, and how do I apply?

      We are looking for teachers who share our vision of molding the next generation of Filipinos. To be a Bahay Turo teacher, you need to have a bachelor’s degree, at least a year of experience in online teaching and be fluent in both Filipino & English. You may apply by sending your résumé to teachers@bahayturo.com with the subject “I want to be a Bahay Turo Teacher.”

      We thoroughly vet our teachers so expect to go through a series of demonstrations and panel interviews.
